The trailhead is located on the north side of Highway 88 between Kirkwood Inn and Caples Lake. There is slush in parts of the trail, waterproof hiking shoes are highly recommended. Nice shade a large part of the way and there are numerous trails that run off of the main one but quickly you will see that you’re off the main rail and easy to return and get back on track.
